The importance of Protecting Your Information

Our community is responsible for so much of the success at Electronic Recycling Solutions. We are proud to say that donations of laptops, tablets, phones, and more contribute so much to our success. But you may wonder what happens to your old device's information when you make a donation. Well, ERS is dedicated to protecting your information by offering hard drive shredding. You may also be curious what hard drive shredding is and why it is so important. It is important because every single file on your device is actually stored on the hard drive. Even when you delete items from your trash or recycle bin your information still isn’t securely disposed of. While most of the information on your device is likely pictures, videos, personal documents, etc. it is still important to protect any and all of your sensitive information. When you try to delete these all by yourself, it leaves room for human error.

What most people may not know is that even if your computer is old or no longer working your information can be recovered by many free programs available on the internet, even if you have deleted it off of your device. If your information just so happens to fall into the wrong hands, then it can take months or even years to recover. This makes it incredibly easy for other people or criminals to get access to your sensitive files. We don’t want you to worry about that. For the most part the information that these criminals may be after are SSN’s, credit card information, passwords, pins, bank account numbers, medical information, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdates, passport or driver's license numbers, etc.

When we shred a hard drive it means that no one can access these files because the hard drive has been completely wiped of any and all information. If you work for a legal office, schooling system, or own your own business you may have documents that contain sensitive information! But we still want your business, and we are happy to provide services that protect you. When you recycle with Electronic Recycling Solutions you are reducing your company's carbon footprint and securing your private and sensitive information at the same time! It doesn’t hurt that you are also supporting the employment and training of adults with special needs. If you think that these services could be beneficial to you, then please consider recycling with ERS.
